[Listen/Download] – Brand New Song By Owen Pallett – “A Man With No Ankles”
So outta the blue Own Pallett literally just tweeted that he uploaded a new song for us.
By the looks of things it might’ve been released by Domino in a newsletter this morning but that’s not around anymore, however here it is. It’s taken from an upcoming EP called “A Swedish Love Story” featuring three other new songs. It’ll be released on September 28th via Domino, but let this hold you over until then. Check out the tracklisting after the song.
Owen Pallett – “A Man With No Ankles”
- “A Man with No Ankles”
- “Scandal at the Parkade”
- “Honour the Dead, or Else”

[Listen/Download] – Brand New EP By The Tallest Man On Earth – “Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird”
Wait, what? An entire new EP by one of the most average-sized men on Earth, otherwise known as The Tallest Man On Earth?
The only time those will be unwelcome is if he takes a Milli Vanilli route and gets all dread-locky and shit. Thankfully it’s really difficult for Swedish people to grow dreadlocks (they’re allergic to them) so he’ll never go that way, but today my good buddy over at TwentyFourBit broke the good news to me. Five new songs (with the freebie actually being a reworking of a bonus track from his latest album “The Wild Hunt”), one for free, out now.
Below you can hear the freebie and you can buy the whole thing from iTunes and on November 9th (8th in the U.K.) it’ll be available on CD and vinyl. Thanks to T4B for the tracklisting below.
The Tallest Man On Earth – “Like The Wheel”
- “Little River”
- “The Dreamer”
- “Like the Wheel”
- “Tangle in This Trampled Wheat”
- “Thrown Right At Me”
[Listen/Download] – Entire New Album By Blonde Redhead – “Penny Sparkle”
Chances are you’ll hear a bunch of folks talking about how it’s difficult to make album number two or that a lot of bands have just lost it by album number three, but what about album number eight?
There aren’t many bands these days who make it that far, but I guess Blonde Redhead aren’t really from “these days” having released their debut album “Blonde Redhead” 15 years ago way back in 1995. But eight albums later they’re still going strong, comprised of lead singer and all-around female Kazu Makino and twin bruvs Amadeo and Simone Pace. I have to say, I would love to have the name Amadeo Pace, or Cletus.
“Penny Sparkle” is released via 4AD (the band’s third album for the label) on September 14th and if you like what you hear below, you can but it from here:
Blonde Redhead – “Will There Be Stars”
[Listen/Download] – Flip Flap Man – “8 Minutes Of Summer” (Yazoo Vs. Donna Summer Vs. Robbie Williams)
This post is a “QuickPick”. QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that’s sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it’s so awesome), out into the dubya dots.
Any time I get sent music that I like I “star” it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it’s still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can’t get through writing up pieces for each artist and stay on top of the game, so hopefully this will alleviate some of the logs of rear. You’ll still get the MP3s, pictures, links and fresh fruit that you’ve come to know and love around here, you’ll just get less of my inarticulate musings (win for you!).

Belle & Sebastian released a brand new song for free from their upcoming album “Belle & Sebastian Write About Love”, the followup to 2006′s “The Life Pursuit”. They gave it exclusively to certain Twitter followers a day early, some of whom released onto the dubya dots for all of us to enjoy before it’s officially released for free tomorrow (Tuesday 7th). It’ll be available as a free download and stream for a limited time and also available from iTunes.
Last week they released the first in a series of short films that featured two more new songs, the awesome “I Want The World To Stop” and “I Didn’t See It Coming”.
