New Song By Arcade Fire – Suburbs/Month Of May

You can now listen to the whole album for free right here.

It’s not out quite yet but it apparently will be.

Over the last few weeks people have been glued to the Arcade Fire website, myself included.  First they changed the layout of it, then they started slowly adding new tour dates and rumours were rife that they would add some club dates in North America and Europe.  As of yet they haven’t, only announcing festival dates….ok and a couple of club dates in Europe, but not a whole tour.

Anyway, then they changed the banner at the top of their site to say “Arcade Fire Presents The Suburbs” and nobody knew what it was, but apparently it was a mistake because they removed it from the page.  However they didn’t remove it from source code so the only mistake was having it visible.  Well now it’s gone from the source code but one eagle-eyed eagle found a link for what looks to be a brand new single called “Suburbs/Month Of May” that’s available for pre-order on Amazon.

There’s no artwork as of yet and the single is on imported vinyl, which means it’s slightly more expensive than a regular 7″, but the best part is that it’s set for a June 1st release date.  That’s only 16 days, 12 hours, 24 minutes and 34 seconds away.  You can bet your mother-flippin’ bottom dollar that as soon as something comes out it’ll be here, so keep checking back for details.

UPDATE: They’ve since updated their site with a postcard addressed to “The Internet” that says:

“Howdy Yall, just finishing up pressing our 12″. Should be in stores in the next couple weeks, God willing. Good luck with finals, see you this Summer! AF”.

By 12″ I’m assuming they mean a 12″ single.  If they managed to write, record, and press an entire album without anyone knowing I’d be highly fucking surprised and impressed.  If it’s being released in a couple of weeks, chances are it’ll show up online somewhere before then, but if Sleigh Bells taught us anything about leaks, it’s that they don’t always happen.

Here they are, give ‘em a listen.

[Listen/Download] Sleigh Bells Release Debut Album On May 11th

M.I.A’s taken over Pitchfork’s Twitter stream for the whole day and whilst she’s already had a go at people criticising her love FOR CAPS LOCK, she also just announced that Sleigh Bells are going to release their debut album “Treats” on May 11th, that’s only two weeks away!

Sleigh Bells blew up at the end of last year and the start of this year, signed to M.I.A.’s record label N.E.E.T. Records, and played an amazing SXSW, even though they ran into some technical problems. They haven’t even released an official single yet but as I posted a couple of months back, they’re gonna be huge this year and are most definitely a band to watch for 2010.

Check out my previous post on Sleigh Bells and listen to seven songs and watch a couple of their videos.

Sleigh Bells – “Crown On The Ground
Sleigh Bells – “A/B Machines
Sleigh Bells – “Ring Ring

Pre-order “Treats” – Insound: – LP (Picture Disc Vinyl) + Free 7″ | CD + Free 7″ – Amazon: CD | LP (Vinyl)

Updates To The Site, Contest, Newsletter, and More

That picture isn’t me, by the way.  This is me.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on a few things to try to make the site more accessible, easy to use, and informative.

ContestI’m giving away a $100 Gift Certificate to either iTunes, InSound, or Amazon.  I’ve been pimping this to hell and back, both on Twitter and Facebook and it’s beginning to get some steam now, but it may just be the easiest $100 you’ll earn in your entire life. All you have to do is either tweet and follow me on Twitter, or share and become a fan on Facebook.  Click the link above for details

Weekly Newsletter – I’ve created a weekly newsletter that you can sign up to by entering your email address in the box at the right-hand side of the page.  It’ll have the main posts that I’ve made in the last 7 days featuring some of the hottest new and unsigned bands, free MP3s, the latest videos, contests, music news, tour dates and more.  I despise spam as much as you do and you’ll never be spammed, your email address will only be used to receive this weekly newsletter, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.

New Audio Player – For a while I’ve been embedding the audio on the site by using the “Audio Player” plugin but it doesn’t report stats.  So I began using PodPress which does report stats, but has been giving me shit lately.  Now the stats aren’t as important as you being able to play the music easily, so I’m switching to the Yahoo! Media Player.  Beside each song you’ll see a play button that will open the media player at the bottom left of the page, it’ll show all songs that are playable on that page and you can leave it open and let it play as you read.  It’ll also save some screen real estate, which never hurts.

FacebookThere’s also a Facebook fan page (that I actively participate in) where you can see everything that’s posted on the site right in your Facebook News Feed.  When a post is made on the site it’s immediately posted to Facebook so you can stay up to date with everything on the ListenBeforeYouBuy as you’re staying up to date on your friends’ weekend exploits.

TwitterI’m more active on Twitter than anything else and I update it and interact with other bloggers, music fans, bands, and labels multiple times each day.  If you’re looking to get a hold of me, this is probably you’re quickest method besides email.

Email – You’re more than welcome to email me about anything, even if you’re just bored and assume that I’m equally as bored as you are. This is the quickest way to get  hold of me.  This is where you send those squirrel pictures too.  admin@listenbeforeyoubuy.net

Let’s keep music alive by getting it out of that dress and into a sweater.

[Listen] – Entire New Album By The National, High Violet, On Friday

An hour or so ago a leak appeared on various sites of the new album “High Violet” by The National.   I’ve heard the leak and although the quality isn’t great, the album is fucking immense.

The National are aware of this and issued a press release stating that:

“As you may have heard, there is a low quality leak of our new album, High Violet, spreading across the Internet as we speak. We wanted to let you know the New York Times – http://www.nytimes.com – will be streaming the real thing starting Friday April 23rd. We hope you’ll take the time to hear the album at its intended level of quality.

High Violet will be released by 4AD worldwide on May 10th/11th.”

So check back here and at the New York Times on Friday for the full stream and listen to “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and “Sin Eaters” below.

In the meantime, WeAllWantSomeoneToShoutFor is live-blogging his first listen of the whole thing.

Iamamiwhoami Releases New Single – “O”

Iamamiwhoami, the mysterious artist that nobody has any concrete evidence about who is actually behind the mystery, is getting ready to release her first single “O”, and according to the Amazon page she linked to via Twitter, it’ll be available to buy on Sunday, April 11th.

There’s no price just yet, but come Sunday you can get your hands on it for (probably) next to nothing.  Maybe we’ll be one step closer to find out who she really is.  In the meantime, occupy yourselves with some of her videos and see if you can figure out who she is.
