[Discover/Listen/Download] – Fort Fairfield – [Electronica/Shoegaze]

You may have heard of Fort Fairfield before, if for no other reason than because they’re from Sweden. Because of the frequency of how often Sweden produces some of the best music in world, chances are you’ll have heard of these guys based on that alone, so this post is for the few of you who haven’t heard of them.  Of course, every now and again though my logic is skewed and doesn’t quite compute, so maybe nobody has heard of them and the 13,000+ views on their MySpace page are just the band themselves constantly refreshing the page.  Who knows?

Not me.  One thing I do know is that Fort Fairfield deserve more than 13,450 views on their MySpace page.  I’m thinking they should go for 536,981 and then quit, that seems reasonable.

The band are from Jönköping in Sweden and are comprised of duo (who are either related or just using the same last name) J Lück and T Lück or as Alib & Papoose. They’ve so far had three releases, two of which I was lucky enough to get my mangy hands on, both of which I’ve been listening to repeatedly for the last couple of days.

What you can hear below are three songs from their latest EP “The Essential Thing Resists Telling”, a six song instrumental pulse with huge Hip-Hop, Rob Dougan-esque beats, dream-pop waves and zoned-out synths.  It’s music so good that as each songs seamlessly slips into the next you forget you’re listening to just six songs, and by the time you realise you’re already halfway through your third listen.

Listen to the three songs below and watch the simplistic yet clever video for “Sounds Of Birds”.
