You can’t really talk about Memoryhouse without talking about either lo-fi or chillwave. It’s difficult especially when their debut EP “The Years” is exactly both of those and then some. Pitchfork described them as “so chill on their debut EP they’re practically glacial” and it’s true.
Canadian duo Evan Abeele and Denise Nouvion have created such a beautiful and mesmerising EP that it makes you want to rent a beach house, pack your turntable and headphones and spend a week listening to nothing else as you watch the tide ebb and flow from the comfort of your bed. This will take you places; road trips and nights spent drinking with friends in the warm summer evenings, the smooth and calming waves lapping at your feet as the clouds like cotton balls in the sky make their way from one plain to the next.
You have to lose yourself in this EP, close your eyes and be outside when you listen, you’ll be glad you did. You can listen to and download the whole EP below and watch the offical video for “Lately (Deuxieme)”, shot by Church & Steak.
“The Years” is available now as a free download from Arcade Sounds, their debut 7″ “To The Lighthouse” is out now, their second 7″ “Lately” is out soon and can be pre-ordered, and their debut 10-track album “Looms Of Youth” is due out on vinyl and cassette in the Autumn.
