[Discover/Listen/Download] – Tennis

There are three, maybe four songs from Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley, this husband and wife duo from Denver, Colorado floating around t’internet. That’s a shame because I’ve been doing nothing but listening to those songs over the last three days, especially with the onslaught of gorgeous weather and a summer breeze, they accompanied my sunning.

There have been songs that floored me this year, some upon first listen, some that took a little longer to get into, but “Marathon” by Tennis is in the former.  It’s so beautifully lush and catchy that you’d think they had to have stolen it from someone, surely this melody existed before now, drenched in 60s soul and 50s surf.

I spoke to Patrick who sent me the two songs below (mastered, not the demos you might find elsewhere), and even though there are other songs out there he asked that I don’t post them as they’re not fully mastered yet, but rest assured that as soon as I get my hands on them, I’ll share them with you.

Not only are they touring the east coast in August, they’re also recording their LP, so a release this year would be fan-fucking-tastical. You can pre-order their next single “South Carolina” on 7″ via Fire Talk and another 7″ on Underwater Peoples soon. You should do so quickly since only 300 were made.
