As I’ve said before, I don’t usually hold out much hope for songs that bands, labels, or PR people send me. Maybe I think that if they’re sending it to me then it must be bad since this site is still in it’s infancy. Why send it to me and not someone else?
Well, chances are that what was sent to me today was likely sent to every other blog too, but that’s not going to stop me posting it.
What we have here are a Swedish band called The Amplifetes (pronounced Ampli-fetts), which is rather sweet name if you ask me (the first Finnish beauty queen’s last name was Amplifete so they used that). They’re making some awesome dance-party music that reminds me of Justice, mid-90s dance tunes, and influenced by Bowie, E.L.O., and (as noted by The Recommender) Canned Heat. The chorus to “Whizz Kid” sounds familiar but I just can’t place it, though I do know that I can’t stop singing it.
Have a listen below and watch a couple of their videos for “Whizz Kid” and “Somebody New”. There’s also an album in the works, so check back for more details.
