Sent to me a few days ago was this song by Them:Youth, a new band coming straight outta Compton London.
Whilst the email I got was very explicit in what I could and could not do, or how the post should be formatted and what to include, I decided to put that aside. Generally the only time I’ll let someone else tell me how to post on my own site is if the music’s really good, and luckily for Them:Youth’s PR people (because they’d never make it big without my support) , Them:Youth are pretty damn good.
With only one song that’s publicly available, I’m unsure as to how they got such lofty praise from publications like NME and The Sunday Times. There’s one song on their MySpace and that’s it, it’s virtually impossible to hear any of their music besides that one song, but like I said, the song is really good. I was instantly reminded of The Big Pink and Doves, with their expansive sound and catchy chorus.
They plan on releasing an EP for free on their site sometime soon, so to hold us over until then we have the song below. I can say that if the rest of their songs hold up as well as the song you’re about to hear does, the album will be a triumph. Thanks to Channel 3 you can download the track via the widget below.
