So yesterday when I posted Cloud Nothings’ new track from his/their upcoming self-titled album it got the attention of Kevin Greenspon.
If you’re a fan of Cloud Nothings then you’ll know who he is, but if not, they released a split album earlier this year comprising of five songs each, and he also released the first two versions of Cloud Nothings’ “Turning On” album via his Bridgetown Records label. Kevin got in touch with me last night and was kind enough to send me a shitload of stuff for you guys to see and hear and buy and download. Oh my!
The album in question is a bit of a rarity these days; ten new songs by two different artist on one release. If that’s a common occurrence then I’ve been completely unaware of it, but one thing that might set this apart is that it’s a damn fine album from front to back. Kevin’s part takes up the first five songs; a short, sharp jab delivered in the form of piquant Lo-Fi Punk, recorded in The Jesus & Mary Chain’s secret underground cave and produced by Echo & The Bunnymen and the ghost of Ian Curtis.
If you like what you hear below (including a song from his upcoming new album “Unveiling”) then you can get the album in Kevin’s words “10 songs, shrinkwrapped CD in jewel case with full color artwork $8 with shipping included within the USA (add $2 for every two items for shipping to other countries)”. His one-man DIY label has an insane amount of quality music by a huge roster of artists, either on cassette, CD, or both, and he’s put in a lot of time and money to both the label and his own music, so get in and support not only the label but the artists too.
Below you can hear three of Kevin’s songs one from Cloud Nothings.
