4 young guys from Leamington Spa dropped out of the education system to take up residence together in the most dilapidated flat imaginable. From these humble roots, Will, Andy, Joseph and Mike created the 4-piece collective Peoples Persons.
Collectors and lovers of bric-a-brac, they began to make music with a cheap four track and some charity shop/ebay instruments. Encouraged by what they were creating they steered away from the usual low end venues that most bands scratch out an early living from and instead indulged in late night jams and private performances in houses, bedrooms and homebuilt studios.
So far their sounds have been heard by a select few but with the release of their debut EP “Simple Shapes”, released soon on tri-tone/PIAS, they are preparing to unleash themselves on an unsuspecting world. Their unorthodox start has paid dividends and suggests to all those other bands blinded by the zeroes waved at them by fat cats in suits that there is another way to get noticed.
“Day Upon Day” is a fabulous little pop number from the EP. It starts with a great drum intro that screams anthem. Straight away we’re into a song that lifts you into the good mood zone. My toes were tapping before I even realised it. They throw in a little bit of organ before hitting us with a chorus that is as catchy as it is insistent. You’ll be singing it for days. The end of the track is perfect for just letting loose and showing everyone your best moves.
This is one of those feel good numbers that I can imagine I’ll be listening to and dancing along with on long summer days. Damn, why even wait for those days? I’ll do it now!
