I’ve been on an electronic and synthesizing kick, recently, after seeing Com Truise, and producer Daniel “Skit” Bruin fits perfectly into that. I won’t hold his record label’s silly name against Skit, but “Rankadank”? Really? I’m tempted to just call them “badonkadonk.” But I digress.
The tracks, “Capoeira” and “Atlantis” are definitely easy to listen to with an interesting and crisp sound. In the rushed track of “Capoeira” Skit adds the very fitting Godfather quote “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in,” which seems to be how the song is structured – with the hectic and diverse beats that lull and speed back up to pull you in again. ”Atlantis” is slower, smoother, with a steady beat that you can easily find yourself bobbing your head to.
Currently living in Guildford, England, Skit’s got quite the impressive resume, having studied Music Technology at Amersham and Wycombe College and earning his graduate degree in Music Production at Academy of Contemporary Music. According to his Facebook page one of his favorite quotes is “Sound is Everything,” and it’s evident in the music that he produces.
Check out the two tracks before Skit’s debut album drops on September 29, 2011.
A gold star if you can name which Godfather movie the quote is from (no googling).
