You’re a cool cat, right? I mean if you’re reading this you must be, viewing of this most prestigious of websites is by invitation only which is why I reveal so many personal details.
Well because you’re a cool cat then you must share a love for Destiny’s Child like myself and these guys do. I genuinely enjoy most of their music, and Beyonce just took that to a whole new level with her solo work. I downloaded a fan-made “Best Of” album of the best Beyonce tracks with some Destiny’s Child songs thrown in for good measure, and when I have to move it move it at work that’s what I put on (or MSTRKRFT’s “Fist Of God”….that’s a leg mover too).
Tawny Owl And The Birds Of Prey share my love for Destiny’s Child which is evidenced by the epic 7 minute cover of “Say My Name” enclosed below, but when it comes to their own music I’m only just beginning my own Herculean love affair with it. Two known songs are available but that’s all that’s needed to find yourself immersed within their six tumbling walls, the kick drum shaking the very foundations they sing on.
Led by singer Tawny Owl, his voice falls somewhere between the operatic style of Hayden Thorpe from Wild Beasts and the guttural undertones and vocal fog of Finn Andrews’ from The Veils, and backed by The Birds Of Prey, the other five members of the band create the rain-soaked and windswept Sunday walk they travel down as the songs progress. The songs were produced by Jeremy Warmsley (one half of Summer Camp) and will be released as a 7″ single “Ghostwriter” via NRONE Records in March, but for a limited time you can get your hands on the tracks either below or from their Bandcamp page.
