Whilst mostly getting press for her impressive remixes, the chick behind Teen (Amy Aubrac-Prince) can rightfully stand on her own two feet based on her own creations.
You might’ve even heard some of her remixes, most notably her reworking of Daft Punk’s “Too Long” or Woodhands’ “CP24″ but if you haven’t then you should go seek ‘em out. I don’t have them here for you to listen to but you can find them in all the usual places, including her MySpace page. Born in the south of France, she then moved to New York with her family and then relocated herself to Toronto, formed a punk band and then disbanded to concentrate on her first musical love; Dance music.
On songs like “Sugar” you can definitely hear the Daft Punk influence with the intro paying homage to “Da Funk” from their seminal debut album “Homework”. Her sound is ridiculously well-rounded and accomplished, impressive given that she’s still so young you’d never have guessed it by the sound of it, as if one of the dafties had spun it themselves. If you can’t get into music without words or lyrics then you’ll not get into this, but it’s definitely worth your time even if you’re curious, or bi-genre-curious, I can see these tracks making the rounds at clubs and groovy discotheques the land over.
She’s hoping to get an EP released this summer and below you can hear three original tracks of hers and a remix of Valery Gore’s “Shoes Of Glass”.
