With only a couple of songs that are publicly available at the moment, you might think it difficult to fully get behind a band, especially in this day and age when we’re spoiled with numerous ways and means for bands to let us hear their music.
Not with L.A. quintet The Sea Of Cortez, whose couple of songs are bringing together Yaesayer and The Shins and having them make babies in a lush and spacious field at night, then raising those babies on The Flaming Lips’ back catalogue until they’re old enough to form a Beck-fronted, Grandaddy-inspired amalgamation of all of the above. Now if that doesn’t get you excited, well then you probably have no soul (and if you do have one then it’s owned by Simon Cowell).
Both said songs are taken from their debut album “Make It Sound” set for release in early 2011, and in the next couple of months they plan on releasing an EP of unreleased tracks, so those two awesome songs will soon turn into more than two. Below you can hear “The Shores” as well as download it for yourself using their handy-dandy widget.
