[Introducing] – Two Wounded Birds

Have you ever been to Margate?  Have you even heard of Margate?

I’ve never been but I have heard of the small English town, just over the water from France on the English east coast.  Being a beach town it’s probably where Two Wounded Birds got a lot of their inspiration, given that they sound like The Drums doing a Quintin Tarantino soundtrack.  Margate, or even the English east coast for that matter, isn’t known for producing some of the most melodramatic and sun-shiney music you can wrap your ears around, but Two Wounded Birds might just change that.

The four-piece have been around for a couple of years and not only do they sound like they’ve been around for 15, but their intonation is something more often heard from the likes of The Drums or a Surfer Blood/The Smiths hybrid.  Their sound isn’t just something rehashed by a band daydreaming of spending days on the Californian coast, there’s actual substance and originality in their music, as evidenced by their debut self-titled EP.  Not only have they supported The Drums on the U.K. leg of their tour, but The Drums’ guitarist Jacob has released their debut EP on his own midget-sized record label Holiday Records.

The EP is out now and if you’re looking for something to get you outta the miserable slumber that is this shitty winter, then you’re gonna wanna (I like saying that quickly) listen to nothing else but this.
