So, I think we’re all guilty of using these trendy horrible bullshit genre names that got so big in 2010… glo-fi, chillwave, witchhouse, new new wave, fuckin’ I don’t know rape-wave. These little gems have lit up your local computer screen and salt and peppered their way across the blogs. I refuse to do this. BUT if I were to do so, I suppose LESANDS are some of the aforementioned (not so much rape-wave… but I do back this). Synthy, glo-fi, dancey, all the little guilty pleasure kind of adjectives that we all have come to mutter. Regardless, LISTEN TO THEM (I’m a huge fan of all caps, I already love LESANDS for it).
Anyway, these dudes are from San Diego. Kind of local legends; yes, I lived in San Diego for a bit and whilst living there I got tan as fuck (but I digress). LESANDS is huge in San Diego, and I think these bros need a chance to break out from good ol’ SoCal and just EXPLODE all over the place (what?!). They’ve been playing a lot of shows around LA lately, I’ve seen them and they put on a great live show. Austin Tyler Tirado on vocals, Joel Plotnik on drums, and Nik Ewing are the hunks that make up LESANDS and they’re here to delight and please with their catchy hooks and sugary beats. They were going under the name Arrowws, but are here today with a name change and a fresh EP.
I’m here to give you a taste of their newly remixed EP, the Sweet Skin EP. A sweet collection where it’s about quality not quantity, although I would definitely take a full length and run with it. I’m a huge fan of “Easy To Please”, but they’re all great. Listening to this album actually makes me feel like I’m in San Diego; shit makes me want to bump on a ghetto blaster at the beach and get shitty drunk off of a sugary sweet summer drink. Although, being in LA it was a cool 78 degrees today (eat your heart out New York). Enjoy, kiddos, I know I am.
