[Listen] [Discover] – Elbows Like Swords – [Electro-Pop Rock]

I found Elbows Like Swords’ (one-man band Adam) dark and melodic music via Last.fm and Los Campesinos’ Twitter stream and instantly fell in love, playing his three songs over and over and over and over again.

From Edinburgh, Scotland (as am I) he describes his music as “drowning in a nightclub toilet while your favourite song plays in the next room”, but myself and others describe it as intense, dark, and heavy, like a cross between an electro-goth Bloc Party and a more melodious and hook-laden The Knife.

Influenced to start making music by seminal bands such as The Talking Heads, Aphex Twin, The Notwist, New Order, and Figurine, he hopes to release something this year and is working on a lot of new songs at the moment.  He also said he’d like to start playing live later in the year, so definitely check him out to keep up to date with that, and if you live in or around Edinburgh, try to catch him live.

Oh, and when I asked him the age-old question “Do you prefer Badgers Or Squirrels?”, he replied “Badgers”.  I think that’s enough of a sign that he’s gonna be making quality music for quite a while.

Check out his only three publicly available songs below; “Gauze”, “Haunted Mealtimes”,  and “Noble Bones”.
