[Listen/Download] – New Song By Bon Iver – “Calgary”

Oh how I’ve waited for new music from Bon Iver.

In a recent Soundcast that I took part in myself and Kevin Mcfarland mentioned how one of the most anticipated releases of the entire year is the new album from Bon Iver, and it’s not even two months away before that anticipation makes way for actual satisfaction when it drops.  His debut album “For Emma, Forever Ago” was a heartbreaking look into a lonely man’s soul as he was holed up in a log cabin during one Wisconsin winter.

That album has soundtracked almost every one of my winters since, and any point of solemn contemplation in between.  My first introduction to him though was his passionately blistering performance of “Skinny Love” on Jools Holland back in 2008, and fuck me that never tires.

Today though on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show he dropped the first ever play of new song “Calgary” and below you can hear it (and download it via the widget), and it’s not something you’d expect to hear alongside tracks like “Flume” or “Wolves” and shows a bit of a progression, especially considering his work with GAYNGS and Kanye West over the last year or two.
