So here it is, the fifth and final album by The Streets.
A couple of weeks ago Mike Skinner (The Streets’ mastermind) released a free mixtape called “Cyberspace And Reds” featuring a host of musicians from all over the shop, and next week he releases “Computers And Blues”, the allegedly last album by The Streets. That’d be a shame, right? I mean the guy opened the door for alternative U.K. Hip-Hop, giving it a voice on a worldwide stage and many a Hip-Hop artist (and non-Hip-Hop artist) owe a lot of their success to Mike Skinner and The Streets.
Upon first listen the album is decent but I’m not sure I’m gonna listen to it much more than a couple of times, but it’s definitely worth a nod, if for no other reason than it’s the end of a personal era for me. As I’ve said before “Original Pirate Material” was one of those albums that upon first listen blew me away, so I’ve come a long way with The Streets. Anyway, give it a listen and let me know what you think.
