You can now listen to the whole album for free right here.
Don’t you just hate work? I mean, unless you have a sweet job as a squirrel groomer or leaf gatherer or something, chances are you have a shitty job. I was at my job when Arcade Fire decided to unleash teasers for their brand new single “The Suburbs” and b-side “Month Of May”.
Now granted that they’re only teasers and you can’t really tell too much about how the whole songs, let alone the whole album, might sound, but it’s still good to hear a little something. ”The Suburbs” begins slowly with an acoustic guitar and simple drumbeat, and “Month Of May” is pretty much punkified. You can hear Win saying “1, 2, 3, 4″ and then a crash of drums and a fast-paced guitars kick, quickly followed by Win singing:
“Gonna make a record in the month of May
In the month of May
In the month of May
Gonna make a record in the month of May
when the violent wind first fires away!”
Play with the widget below (it’s a bit of a pain in the arse) or just listen to the MP3 teasers. There’s no artwork yet and the release date is still unconfirmed, but as of last week when Amazon had it up it was set for June 1st. Now the rumour is June 1st for North America, May 31st for the U.K. (in the U.K. new releases come out on Mondays, in North America it’s Tuesdays and the 1st falls on a Tuesday).
