[Listen] – New EP By DOM – “Family Of Love”

Not sure if it’s because they’ve “gone major” by signing with Astralwerks or not, but the sound of this new EP is leagues away from the DIY erratic sound of their debut EP “Sun Bronzed Greek Gods”.

DOM were more than likely given a chunk of cash that wasn’t at their disposal when recording the initial EP, so it’s probably down to that, but the more polished and coherent DOM seem to have lost a little bit of their edge. Don’t get me wrong, the tracks on this EP are good, they’re catchy and loud and fun, but they just don’t capture the same kind of unhinged psychedelic electro-spunk-indie-juice of SBGG.

Closing track “Some Boys” (featuring Emma….not sure WHICH Emma) sounds like a cut straight from the sessions of the new Cults album, but give it a listen for yourself (you may have to sign in to Rdio to do so, but it’s quick and painless and free and worth it) and let me know what you thought of it.
