Like Vangelis but not as cheesy or parodied, Active Child’s been making moves lately with the songs he’s been putting up and the hauntingly beautiful soundscapes he’s created in and around them.
With “Hanging On”, the last song of his we heard, the sound on said track was slow and rhythmic with gorgeous vocals and fizzing synths, and this time around the (presumably) Harp takes the lead role in creating a cascading roll of omnipresent twinkles and cloud surfing visions. The standout instrument is his voice, again taking things to an entirely new level. It’s stunning, choir-like, and fits every aspect of the song itself.
Listen to this with your eyes closed and headphones on and see if it takes you somewhere momentarily, like it did with me. I could quite easily enthrall myself in an album like this repeatedly, and I plan on doing so when it drops. Until then, I’ve got this.
