You’re gonna hear this before I am because I’m writing this as I’m on the phone, so you’ll get more of a deep-thought analysis in a little bit, but for now enjoy this, it has to be good right?
And it IS good! I’m so glad these guys are back, it’s been too long since we’ve heard new syrupy-smooth song from Robin Pecknold’s band of Seattle-livin’ gypsies (otherwise known as Fleet Foxes) but the wait was worth it. That first verse caught me off guard, I was expecting it to end a lot quicker and on first listen it sounded a bit juvenile, but after a few spins it’s really fucking clever, and the lyrics are great too.
The album “Helplessness Blues” is out May 3rd, it’s 12 songs long but at the moment there’s no tracklist available, but starting February 1st at 9am PST you can get tickets to their just-announced US tour and pre-order the album from their site.
I’ve read interviews with Robin where he’s said he’s for file-sharing and music being given away for free so there’s a good chance that they’ll give away some more tunes between now and when the album’s released, so keep your eyes peeled. How’s that for deep-thought? Shitty, right?
