Smith Westerns, what with your hairy and grizzled version of modern Glam-Rock, what are we supposed to do with you?
Just eat you up in copious amounts until we’re throwing up guns and paint and glitter and bits of wood? Damn right! If their debut self-titled album came out in 2010 it would’ve been in my top five of the year, instead it came out in 2011 and so it only made the top 0. The previously-released/heard jam “Weekend” is one of the best I’ve heard this year, and the video is equally as raucous.
Their second album is due out on January 18th and from what I’ve heard from others who have heard it, it’s spectacular. Check out this new tune “All Die Young” from the album, slightly more toned-down than “Weekend”, but all the while excellent (like today’s Bob Dylan covering 80′s Bowie).
