[Listen] – New Song By Smith Westerns – “Weekend”

When Smith Westerns released their debut album back in the middle of 2009 they were then called The Smith Westerns, but have since dropped the “The”.

I remember reading a tweet by them a few months back about dropping it, but I can’t remember their reasoning for doing so, however if it was for something like being more mature, then you can definitely hear the difference in this new tune from their follow up album “Dye It Blonde” due out in January 2011.

Jams from their debut were Lo-Fi, raw, hurried, and drenched in layers of Glam-Rock sweat, but this nubbie sounds more like a “heavy” Girls and that opening guitar riff is tight; catchy as all hell breaking loose and the vocals are softer.  You can also tell the production value has been kicked up a few notches too.
