It’s only been a year or so since The Drums released their debut self-titled album to much praise and now they’re readying the release of its follow-up.
A couple of months back they released a new song as part of a charity effort to help with the Tsunami relief effort in Japan after the earthquake and it followed in exactly the same vein as their debut album, and wouldn’t you know it, the same can be said for this new song too, although with slightly different-sounding vocals.
In interviews recently they’ve spoken about how the new album “Portamento” isn’t a big departure from that sound but they’re just pushing it forward a little, although I’m not sure how much more forward their sound can get and still sound the same. Is that even possible?
Anyway, this new song was just premiered on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show for the first time anywhere in the world and below you can hear it.
