When James (the head-honcho) from We Are Trees sent me the demo for “Afraid Of Love” at the start of February, I was under the impression that it’d be on his upcoming EP “Girlfriend”, but not so!
He just sent over the first single from that EP and on his Bandcamp page the tracklist for the EP shows five new jams, and you can probably expect each one to have that ethereal and laid back melodic sound that we heard on his debut EP “Boyfriend”. So far the new songs are quickly following in the footsteps of songs like “Sunrise Sunset” and “Daniel”, as if you’re watching someone snowboard the sun as it ducks down behind the horizon.
“Colorado” even has a bit of a vibe reminiscent of The Dodos with the loose guitar playing and windswept backing vocals, and even though there’s no set date yet for its release, this should be a good enough stop-gap until then.
