You know what’s enjoyable? Yelling. Yelling is enjoyable, especially when you’re yelling along with one of your favourite songs in a room full of sweaty guys trying to “accidentally” grope the only girl in the joint.
I’ve done that on occasion; yelling along with a giantess of a song, not the gropey part. Although I haven’t done it with White Lies I can definitely see it happening with their huge morbid anthem “Death” from their debut album “To Lose My Life…” (which was either panned by critics or loved by critics). They were heralded as the next big thing when that was released in 2009….actually they were heralded as the next big thing before it came out, such is the way of the U.K. hype machine.
Now as they ready their followup “Ritual” the hype circle might not be as revolving this time, but with their new song that was played on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio show yesterday, it seems as though they may have toned down the anthemic nature of their previous album, but I fear they may have gone the way of Editors…..which is pretty piss poor. The song itself isn’t all that piss poor, but it’s just kinda bland, really.
