Two things that will always make me melt upon first listen. Hammond Organs, and “Frank, this free sammich is for you”.
Admittedly I’m not an organ connessuier so I can’t say whether it’s a Hammond Organ or just a regalur organ you see in churches and shit, but either way when it’s coupled with the skuzz-bass and drag-racing guitars you’ve pretty much just managed to make me do anything for you. That being said, Wilco, I am at your service.
Their new song, “I Might”, from their upcoming and as-yet-untitled eighth album, is sounding just like that (to me anyway) and it’s frickin’ awesome. I’m not the hugest of Wilco fans but this song is tight and if it’s a sign of things to come, then colour me excited. Or green, I like green. It’s out on July 19th via their own dBpm label, and as CoS points out they were selling the 7″s to people at a recent show this weekend who have since gone and ripped them so your joyous (or soon-to-be once you’ve heard it) ears can be tamed.
