There are times when pure, unadultered, hard dance music is the only music you really want to listen to. When you find yourself in that mood, you’ll be pleased to know that Skrillex is the name that you need.
Our lovely Leisha first talked about Skrillex here but we were given a timely reminder by the rather interestingly named Joebin who told us that they’re on the site EVERY DAY (nice one, I hope you’re sharing the love?) and I’m glad they did. If you’re a regular visitor, you’ll know that I do love this kind of music and when I first heard that opening “My name is Skrillex” I knew that I was in for a little treat. Distorted vocals and pounding bass make this one track that gets played loud and often.
So for those of your new to him, just who is Skrillex? It turns out he’s Sonny Moore, an electro house/dubstep producer from LA with a former life as frontman for From First To Last. Vocal problems and an op forced him to give that life up, moving instead into a production career and the birth of Skrillex. Apparently he’s been on tour with Tommy Lee (who knew he was a DJ?) and one other of my favourite electronic acts, Deadmau5. His music has been featured in games and commercials and he’s remixed acts like Snoop Dogg and Lady Gaga.
He released his debut EP last year which you can download for free from here but in the meantime turn the volume up and hit play.
