Taking advantage of their newly-minted Soundcloud page, The Big Pink have been adding some of their music to it over the last couple of weeks or so, whether it be remixes of their songs by other artists, snippets of NEW songs from their as-yet-unannounced-and-untitled album, or this cover of The Cure’s “Lovesong”.
If you’re unfamiliar with the original then click this and give it a quick spin, but if you do know the original then you’ll know that this cover is almost as far away from a straight up cover as you can get. Drenched in reverb and slowed down a chunk it’s all but unrecognisable if not for the famous chorus, and that’s a good thing. I can get into covers that sound the same but are done with some passion or a different main instrument than the original, but I’m all about covers being far from home, and The Big Pink’s is just that.
They’re getting ready to release some new music in the coming months, so check back here for whenever that drops because you know I’ll be on it, but in the meanwhiletime check out the cover below.
