[Listen] – The Hood Internet vs The 2000s [Mashup]

The Hood Internet are musical and mashup pioneers.   Regularly creating and releasing awe-inspiring mashups for free (you can download every one of their releases from their site via various file sharing sites) they are praised for mixing Indie/Rock artists with Dance/Electro/Hip-Hop artists into one gimungous ball of auditory heaven.  They’ve been giving their music away on their site for almost three years now, but this is the first time (of what will be many) that I’ve featured them on ListenBeforeYouBuy.

Recently they did a track for CokeMachineGlow‘s Fantasy Covers: The 2000s podcast, a look back at covers of songs from the years 2000-2009, but in true Hood style they mashed up some of the biggest and best songs of the 2000s into an epic 6 minute song.  My favourite part is the mix of Kanye West and Arcade Fire at 2:24 that seemlessly flows into Three Six Mafia and Sufjan Stevens, it’s genius and fits so well.

You can listen to both The Hood Internet’s mashup as well as CokeMachineGlow’s entire covers compilation below, both of which can be downloaded from their respective sites too.

You can’t help but respect people who put so much time and effort into their art and then give it all away it for free.  If you like what you hear, support them by nabbing something from their store or go see them live.
