The Tallest Man On Earth is actually just a regular sized guy. His music on the other hand is huge. Often (and quite-rightly so) compared to Bob Dylan and Bon Iver, his music is folky and insatiably heartfelt, his voice on most songs sounding as if it’s about to break under the pressure of his wail and the strings of his guitar sounding as if they’re about to snap under the pressure of his strum.
His real name is Kristian Matsson and he’s Swedish, but you wouldn’t know it by listening to his songs, firmly rooted in old-time Americana. On April 13th he releases “The Wild Hunt”, the followup to 2008′s “Shallow Grave” which was lauded from here to there and back again. Twice.
You can listen to “King Of Spain” below, the first single from “The Wild Hunt”, as well as listen to four songs he did for Daytrotter (“This Wind”, “Shallow Grave”, “I Want You”, and “I Won’t Be Found”) and watch his gorgeous performance of “The Gardener” for Blogotheque and his Tiny Desk Concert for NPR. The thing that makes him even more of a cool-as-shit motherhubbard? His envious ‘tache.
