Two years is a long time in the music world – so much so that I actually needed to go back and listen to The Ting Tings‘ debut album in comparing it to their recent singles on their upcoming album. Their new sound is more mature and less playful, but I’m still digging it.
Here, in “Silence” ,the crazy good Bag Raiders seem to add back a little of The Ting Tings‘ playful side, while lead singer, Katie White sings wistfully. Her vocals, while ephemeral, are romantic and the snappy remix overlays a romantic side that is new to The Ting Tings.
The backbeat is repetitive with a purpose, infused with not annoying techno-beats, building to some unattainable silence. It makes you want to reflect or just dance.
