At about this time last year James Blake really began a steep rise to prominence, and about five months ago that status was met with the release of his debut self-titled album.
Since that release he’s dropped a couple of singles from the album, namely “The Wilhelm Scream” and “Lindisfarne”, but only a couple of weeks ago Hemlock, the label where he released his debut 12″ single “Air & Lack Thereof”, announced that they’d be dropping another single from Blake, this time with two new songs, “Order” and “Pan”.
Both songs are a step away from the sparse and minimalist sound that’s evident on his debut album, but also a step backwards into the Dubstep sound where he made his dues. Wobbles, drops, and a lack of vocals/sampled vocals make for a throwback all the way to the start of 2010 in Blake’s career. Released on July 11th you can snag it from somewhere, just not on Hemlock’s site yet.
