This Saturday is Record Store Day, a day in which vinyl enthusiasts either rejoice or rescind their love of vinyl. Rejoicing in their love for the format and their local record stores, or rescind if they wait in line for hours only to find out that the last limited edition Westlife 12″ was snapped up by an overzealous pregnant teen.
One of the more anticipated releases is that of Radiohead‘s new 7″ that’s only available in the U.K. and features two new songs called “The Butcher” and “Supercollider”. A couple of days ago there were some really really poor quality rips floating around the internet, seemingly recorded from a mobile and only 30 seconds long. Then there were version on the float that were equally as poor quality but both of the full songs, and now…
…now we have both of the songs, full length and not recorded from a mobile phone that was kept in a glass of water whilst travelling through a tunnel on top of a train. ”The Butcher” has a bit of a “House Of Cards” vibe to it that seems to fit somewhere between “In Rainbows” and “The King of Limbs”, and the same can be said for “Supercollider”, neither veering to far away from the sounds heard on both albums.
What do you think?
