Blitzen Trapper‘s new album “American Goldwing” is set to come out on September 13 and Subpop has released these two tracks a few weeks early to get us excited.
My immediate reaction after listening is that they have reached the point where they are choosing to make more of a push towards the mainstream market and strip away some of that folk tinge that has helped to define them to this point. As a fan I’m not blown out of the water but still contented by these songs, especially “Love The Way You Walk Away” which continues to showcase their ability to carry a song lyrically.
My favorite BT song will most likely always be “Furr” so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there is at least a song or two on the album that channel the sound I fell in love with.
