What was your previous line of employment? For me, I was a dishwasher. When I moved to the states I had the pleasure of dealing with the INS and their ineptitude, so I wasn’t able to work for almost a year until I got my green card. When I did get the card I took the first job I could, which just so happened to be in a country club washing dishes for rich people. Gotta start somewhere, right?
Well the reason I ask/mention is that Brock Enright’s previous job was kidnapping. Yeah, he kidnapped the shit out of people, but they weren’t just your run of the mill, South American drug cartel kidnappings. No, these were designer kidnappings that involved his company Videogames Adventure Services basically doing whatever you wanted, for $1,500. But that was five years ago and he’s now given that up to concentrate on his music, together with his girlfriend Kirsten Deirup.
Their debut album “Torben” is released next week (June 29th) and I’m happy to let you hear the lead track from that album, “Maybe”. It’s a short and snappy 2:13 long (or short) and is reminiscent of Interpol and The Airborne Toxic Event, but the album itself differs slightly, switching from dark and moody electronic tones to upbeat and chirpy jolts, all centred around the duos son Torben.
There’s also a movie that accompanies the album that you can get from Factory25.
