Ever wondered what a Cake/Towers Of London/Queens Of The Stone Age hybrid might sound like? Of course you have, who hasn’t? It’s something that’s crossed my mind frequently but now I don’t have to wonder. Now I know!
It comes in the form of Sigmund Droid, a band that, contrary to what their name might suggest, are not a German Electro lion-tamer group. I was damn fucking impressed when I was sent their music that manages to flit between some of the most fuzzed-up bass lines you’ll hear this side of Le Tigre and an Electro group of lion tamers. Some of the beats are just ridiculous and you can’t help but get the down down (yeah that’s a double down…the dancing equivalent of a double rainbow) and rock the fuck out at the same time.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on two of their EPs thanks to Jules who said I can post them both, for streaming and for downloading. So this’ll be a two-part post, this being the first one for the EP “Interpretation Of Screams” and the second will be tomorrow for “Maximum Grind”.
