[Listen/Download] – Glowbug – “Funeral Song”

It fully sank in how phenomenal the “Mr. Plastic” album is when it took twenty minutes of shuffling through each track before coming to a decision on which one was more deserving to be put on Listen Before You Buy, “Funeral Song“  made the final cut solely from its higher rating in my itunes library.

Despite the amount of effort that I put in to finding new bands and great music there is always some song, some album, that takes time before I finally come across it. Glowbug is an example of this. “Mr. Plastic” was released in May and I heard my first track off of it a week ago. These amazing twelve songs are a guarantee to make my best-album-of-2011 list,  for how great they all are I can’t believe how little there is out there about this album or these guys (and girls).

Funeral Song” simply put is the equivalent of Born Gold bumming a smoke off of Animal Collective. The way the rhythm drifts between subtle to driving at undefined intervals keeps things from ever coming close to monotonous only drawing  attention to the incredible vocals which swell and recede as if we were listening to track one off of  some “Indie Sounds Of The Ocean”  album which if that album were to actually exist I imagine this song would be called something along the lines of “Chillwave At Dusk.”

This is the video for his Pixies cover which is the first track off of the newest Glowbug EP “Covered In Lights Vol. 1” which comes out this weekend.
