[Listen/Download] – Hoodie Allen

Okay, already blogged to death, but you can’t deny the awesomeness of Hoodie’s new mixtape, ‘Pep Rally’. He showcases a perfect blend of hip hop/indie. His raps are quick and the lyrics often just seem to resemble a list of pop culture references (although not quite as randomly as I’ve made it sound). There’s a great bunch of samples thrown in the mix (The Black Keys, Cold War and especially Flight Facilities).

The whole album flows very smoothly, is full of energy AND you can get the whole thing for free here. There’s such a great potential for this kind of cross-over (see Chiddy Bang), I think if Hoodie can keep up this kind of intensity he’s destined for big things.

Now I can’t stop playing “Crave You” by Flight Facilities feat. Giselle Roselli. You gotta have this lascivious little stunner in your collection if you don’t already.

    He sounds like Drake.
I know I just heard ‘crave you’ for the first time tonight as I was looking for songs to add to a mix disc and I probably already played it 10 times.
Do you have any similar songs that you might suggest? (ie upbeat lounge music with vocals thats not too upbeat to be house or disco)
