[Listen/Download] – Librarians – “Candy Season” and “Hard To Unwind”

Librarians come from West Virginia and play uplifting, ethereal electro-tinged indie pop. Their latest album, Present Passed, was released in March 2010, and the two singles here are a good taste of the record as a whole.

“Candy Season” is as light and sweet as its name implies, building a summery pop melody on top of electronic beats. And “Hard To Unwind” weaves a wall of guitar feedback and electronic sound into an intriguing hybrid, like a more conventional Animal Collective.

There’s also bits of The Beta Band and The Magnetic Fields in Librarians’ DNA, making them a fine soundtrack to this summer. And there’s enough musical invention and songwriting craftsmanship to ensure that they’ll last after the weather turns colder.

“Candy Season”grabbed me IMMEDIATELY. LOVE that opening… man, there’s nothing like a good pop song.

    Thanks!
