Yesterday morning as I was going through the blogs that I follow, I found this post by Confusion over at Pigeons and Planes.
I had heard the name before, also previously posted by Confusion but admittedly didn’t give it a listen. This time though I did and now I’m kicking myself for not listening to it sooner. What I do when I go to a site is find the music first, hit play and then read the article, so upon first clicking play on P&P yesterday the first through that entered my head was “Hmm…..this sounds like something by The Strokes from Is This It”.
That was until the vocals kicked in, then it just sounded like nothing I’d heard before. New-Wave Electro Hip-Hop? Does that shit even exist? Well it does now and what’s even better is that it’s well-written, well-produced, smart, catchy and just straight up killer. Thanks to KC at SpreadLabel for getting in touch and sending me the two songs below, both of which are tracks you’ll find on their FREE debut album “How Did This Happen?” coming out on August 18th, and you better believe I’ll be posting as much of it here that I’m allowed to.
The duo are from Portland, Oregon, and when I checked out their MySpace page and saw it only has 625 views I was shocked. Hopefully it was just made recently and they’re not underexposed because that would be a shame. Check out the two below and listen to the sweet remixes on their MySpace page.
