Brooklyn native Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire released this as a free download a couple of days ago, and proved that he is rising in the ever competitive New York Hip-Hop scene.
His energy and intensity are only matched by the conviction he possesses when recording a verse. Even during his most mediocre and unremarkable lines, you can tell that he is giving it his all which is to be admired.
While some rappers makes the assumption that they don’t have to convey any kind of energy to an audience if what they are saying is clever enough, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire never falls victim to this trap and deliver’s a bouncy performance for the entire album and the hour of material that comes with it. Also, choosing to sample scenes from both Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay and the classic sketch comedy show In Living Color prove eXquire doesn’t take himself too seriously, which is never a bad thing.
