[Listen/Download] – New Song By Beirut – “Goshen” (“East Harlem B-Side)

Holy mother of god damn shit balls!

I’m sure there’s someone who read that and was (slightly) offended but trust me people, it’s completely justified.  You’ll understand once you’ve made your way through the track, but between the two recent songs released by Beirut over the week’s end it’s the b-side “Goshen” that has me hitting play over and over and over again.

I’m almost a sucker for anything the guy does but even though it opens with nothing but Zach crooning over a four-chord piano riff, it could almost be mistaken for a Perfume Genius track until the trademark horns and marching band drumline kicks in, but his voice gets me every time.  As I said when I posted the a-side “East Harlem”, both songs are on a 7″ that ships on the 14th but can be had digitally via iTunes right now.

Just…….just hit play.

Ok, go ahead, hit play again.

I’m perfectly happy with this. “Goshen” is very nice. If anyone doesn’t like it, it’s their own damned fault.

I dig Beirut, but I always wanted better lyrics from this band. I hope I get what I wish for.
