Worcester, Massachusetts rockers Dom already made a name for themselves with the release of last year’s “Sun Bronzed Greek Gods” EP. The EP was a stellar collection of poppy, sparkling indie rock tracks. The band is back with a brand new song, “Bowl Cut”.
“Bowl Cut” is another shining tune. It features lead singer, Dom’s (in true rock star fashion he goes by his first name only) breathy vocals as well as a catchy bassline, great guitar work and some very nice “oohs and ahs”. Another up and coming indie band, Cults, helps out a bit by contributing background vocals.
The song is a bit more low-key than the tracks off of “Sun Bronzed Greek Gods”, and has a slight bit of a chillwave vibe going on. It doesn’t quite reach the soaring heights that some tracks from the EP, such as “Living In America” and “Burn Bridges” do, however, it is still an excellent song in it’s own right. Perhaps it signifies the direction the band will be heading in on their upcoming debut album. Or, perhaps it won’t. Either way, “Bowl Cut” makes it certain that Dom are a band that you will want to make note of. I am predicting big things from these guys in 2011.
Dom will be touring North America with The Go! Team in March and April.
