[Listen/Download] – New Song By Future Islands – “Before The Bridge”

Starting this site at the start of 2010 I ended up finding a hell of a lot of new music that I was completely unaware even existed.  When someone told me there was a genre called Psychedelic Glitch-Hop I thought they were joking.

Another thing that happened was that I discovered older music by bands who were releasing new music last year, one of my most pleasing discoveries was Future Islands.  The Baltimore band released their second album “In Evening Air” last year and it blew me away, subsequently making my Top 31 Albums Of 2010 list, and so I went back in tried to find everything else I could find by them to listen to.

Maybe it’s because my first taste of their music was from their second album that I enjoy that more than their debut, but something to get me excited is brand new music by them.  In the past they’ve released a bunch of split singles and collaborations so this new song is just them, being released on July 19th via Thrill Jockey as part of a limited (to 750) 7″ single.  Stereogum had the premiere of it this morning and it’s just as good as some of the songs on “In Evening Air”, with singer Sam T. Herring’s distinct voals on point once again.

You can grab the track below and if you’re into vinyl you can pre-order the single right here.
