Some people fell head over hells in love with this Glaswegian quadruplet when they first started doing the rounds back in 2007/2008, and then there were some people who hated them.
I was half and half. Maybe it’s because I’m Scottish and I don’t hear it enough, but I tend to be drawn towards songs that are sung with a Scottish brogue, something that reminds me of home and all that jazz. Their debut album played like a Shoegaze-Doo-Wop shindig and I loved most of the songs, but there were a couple that would’ve been better with indecipherable lyrics, but alas, it is what it is.
Now the band are readying their second album “EUPHORIC /// HEARTBREAK \\\” set for April 1st and as they promised last week or so, they’ve upped the first single from the album “The World Is Yours”. Sounds like someone’s trying to get all inspirational on our asses, but the song itself could use some inspiration. Gone (almost) are the tidal waves of sound heard on the first album and in are some Knightrider-inspired synths found on Knightrider’s first album. It’s…….aight.
Shame, really. Their catchy and encompassing melodies were a giant part of their debut album and if the rest of the new album follows in the footsteps of the below, it’ll be a giant let-down.
