Admittedly, when I heard Iron & Wine‘s latest three-song single “Walking Far From Home” at the end of November, I liked the first song, was ambivalent towards the second, and did not like the last one at all.
Now less than three weeks later we’ve got another new song from their upcoming album “Kiss Each Other Clean”, which sounds pleasurable but yet potentially nasty at the same time (the title, not the album). ”Tree By The River” is definitely more old school Iron & Wine; Sam Beam, a couple of beards, some guitars, and perhaps a drum or a tapped foot, none of this Sufjan Stevens electronically-charged sideburns shenanigans.
