I can’t remember how, or when, or where, but i can remember what my first encounter with Junior Boys was; ”Parallel Lines” from their 2009 album “Begone Dull Care”.
I tell ya, that song gets me every time, from the Depeche Mode-style drumbeats, the underground bass line, and soft and whispery vocals mix to make a fat and chilled dance groove. Having been around since 2004, the Canadian duo turned a lot of heads with their last album and they seem to be following it up with the same momentum having just released “EP”, the first track from their upcoming fourth album “It’s All True”.
With a bit of a Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” vibe with the recurring slow-mo fat synth from the intro to the outro, the song is more sung than “Parallel Lines” but still gives way to that feathery sound they’ve honed so well.
“It’s All True” is out on June 14th via Domino and below you can hear “EP”. You digging it?
