If you’re unaware, the Gymnopedies are three compositions by Erik Satie, a 19th-20th century French composer. They’re by far his most famous works and if you’ve never heard them before I urge you to seek them out (in this day and age it shouldn’t take you much more than three minutes).
MillionYoung has just released this excellent “rendition” of “Gymnopedie No. 1″ as a free download from his site. It’s a sweet 2 and a half minutes of dream-pop and lazy Sunday synths, even though it’s still Saturday. Check out my post on MillionYoung from back in May and listen to five of his other awesome tunes.
Below you can hear MillionYoung’s rendition as well as Erik Satie/Reinbert de Leeuw’s so you can compare the two.
